Can't Wait Until Camp.

We year 8’s have one day until the fun starts. It is very exciting because we are going to CYC Ngaruawahia for camp. From what I heard this camp might be the best camp ever. There is a hydroslide, mud slide, a lake and other fun activities.

According to the forecasted, this camp might be a raining camp. I hope that it doesn’t rain even though it is. At this camp we will be getting wet a lot. What I’m looking forward to is the mudslide cause I’m going to get dirty and wet.

Swimming

Did you know swimming can save your life? Because if you know how to swim then you will survive if a boat sinks.

If you were stuck in the sea and you had to swim to something and hang on to it until a rescue team comes. Which item would you pick. A chilly bin, Log, Fishing box, Plank wood, Ball, Oar. If you can’t stay with your boat any of these things will keep you safe until you survive.

But the most important thing you need to “WEAR” is a Life Jacket. That is the most important thing you need to wear when in the water.

My Story.

As I was sitting on the top of the hill looking over Te Rakau. Suddenly an idea popped into my head. I run back home and told my whanau. They said it was a brilliant idea.

So went to Mr Turnbull’s house, and we told him take those house down now, because that land does not belong to you. It’s Maori land, “you have no right” said grandpa. yea, yea, yea said dad, mum, and wiremu and his friend.

Just standing their with surprise Mr Turnbull said “you're right I can’t do this to other people’s land especially to Tane Mahuta. We need to stop this and we need to do it now. We got into our car and drove off.

Three weeks later the house was gone and Te Rakau was back to normal.

Maniakalani Film Festival

Sitting inside the theater, waiting for the film festival to start. It was exciting because I couldn’t wait. Suddenly the lights dimmed, and it started.

Do you know how to talk silently. Well  “The Test’ tells you all about it. The movie was created by a class from my school, Room 18.  The reason why this is my favourite movie is because it was funny ,interesting and entertaining all at the same time. Go to this link , here, and you’ll know why it’s all of these.

My Favourite Toy.

My favourite toy is a rugby ball. Why? Cause it just is.
The rugby ball as my favourite toy because you can play all sorts of games with it. My favourite games to play with the rugby ball is rugby and rugby league. At home we use to play rugby with my uncles and it is fun because they can’t catch us when we run. At school we play touch with a rugby ball and sometimes we play rugby when we feel like it, then kicks later on.

Narrative

Getting ready to start doing stunts on my BMX bike, I was nervous and scared because I could get hurt, because of my lack of experience on a bike........... but as timed passed, I thoguht to myself, “there is nothing to worry about,” so off I went riding down a big hill.

Flying in the air screaming my lungs out, I was scared but excited because I had left off from where I had started. Looking at the ground I was already feeling the pain. As I hit the ground I felt my leg couldn’t move and it had a lot of pain.

People were running toward me as I was lying stiff on the ground. Then I just black out. Waking up in the hospital asking, what happened to me? And looked at my leg and it had a carved  on it. Then my mother told what happened.

A few weeks later I felt much more better and went back home.
And that was the last time my mother let me ride a bike.

Stomach Churning.

Having fun at the most coolest place I have ever been to , “was AWESOME”. But there was one thing that was missing, I looked up and there was the roller coaster and i said “ that’s what’s missing .”

I told my brother to come so we can go on for a little ride he  said “ NO” so i went on by myself. I was sitting next to a stranger that was much more excited than me. The roller coaster was starting to spin I was nervous.

As it was going faster I was getting more sacred and wanted to get off but it was already too late. It was spinning faster and  faster . The person next to me was screaming  so i started to scream too.
I was thinking to myself  how long does it take  so I can get off.  Then the roller coaster stopped and  I was at the top of the roller coaster and  I was like how am I going to get down. After staying up there it made me not want to go on a roller coaster ever again in my life.

Going on that roller coaster was one of the  most scariest  thing that i have ever been on and that was the first and last time that i am ever going on a roller coaster!!!

Dangers Of Smoking...

Dangers of smoking.

What are the dangers of smoking?
It is likely that you can die in a very early age if you start smoking young, and that smoking can also give you all sorts of disease especially to your lungs. Some people have lost parts of their bodies like their toes, legs, arms and all sorts of other parts. People from all over the world have started smoking but can’t quit, because smoking can cause and addiction and is very hard for most people to stop.

What are the chances of smokers having lung cancer? Some people have lung cancer from smoking but they don’t even know. They a more likely to die from lung cancer at  age that they don’t want to die at. Smokers have seen advertising on television and radio about how they can die and what their lungs might look like.

What are some changes of the body?
When a person starts smoking their body goes through a lot of changes. Their body goes funny and their brain asked for more smoke. Some people are different and their brain goes crazy and the lungs starts to go black and rotten. Most of the people who smoke get a smelly breath, yellow teeth, black toes and fingers. It is likely that smokers can definitely lost one of their legs or arms.

I believe that smoking can kill you because it has happened before. It will give a shorter life.
And people who are smoking you can quit right now. I think that you can be cool and stop people from smoking even if its your parents, caregivers or any other family members or friends just tell them that they have a choice to stay alive till they're old or die early. SMOKING NOT OUR FUTURE. Thanks To Samson For Reading My Work

Grief..

It was two years ago when my Grandad died. He died a day before my aunt's birthday. When we heard that he had died we all rushed to my Nana’s house where we always assemble when someone dies. We all had to plan how we were going to  go over to the island where the funeral was. My Nana and her sister were the ones planning out everything seeing that they we the oldest.  But despite all their plans we had to stick to a traditional tongan funeral. Most of my family for here in NZ had to go to the island’s to the  funeral. Everybody that went to the funeral got a tshirt with his picture on it, to show people that my Grandad will be sadly missed.
R.I.P GRANDAD!

Carl Lewis.

Carl Lewis.

In the athlete history, there is a very outstanding man that I have been learning about. His name is Carl lewis, Carl was very fast and strong man.  He tied Jesse owens record and he won the 4 title in all including the 200m race, “can’t you believe it”. Then came the season in 1991. Carl Lewis and Leroy Burrell denominated the sprint events.

All in all Carl Lewis is one of the most world renowned Olympians of all time. While he did cause a stir he will always be remembered for his hard work and perseverance. Today he lives in Los Angeles, California.

"When Is It The Right Time To Swear?"

When do you think is the right time to swear? Well I think never because swearing is a very bad habit. Some people swear when they are angry or some are because they are just being stupid and acting immature.

This week we have been learning about the language of success. We had to read an article about a small town in the US that’s near B
oston. The residents banned swearing because they had enough of foul language in public. Since they banned swearing people were charged a $20 fine once they swear in the community nearby.

In some places they don't banned swearing like the town in the U.S. Did you know that profanity is a similar word to swearing, profanity means being effective  to the lord.

In my culture we don't allow swearing, but to be honest some people swear. swearing in public is a very bad thing because it just shows people what a bad influenced you are.

Thank you Emilee.

Solar System

This week we had to read an article about a record breaking solar power flight. When I read the article I could not believe what I was reading, so I read more and more.

Did you know that a plane can power up by just the sun’s rays? , it can also  fly from switzerland to morocco. It is the first time that a plane has flown that far without using fuel.

A flying machine wings are covered in solar panels, it trans the sun rays into electricity to power the plane propellers. The sun is the ordinal score and all the energy that is used on earth.

As much energy that falls on earth each hour it’s the total, human population used in a note year. Solar panels a made from photovol TXL or PV for short.
Some can be broken down photo means light.

There a many PV tiles which replace normal and simplify the install.

Thank you Vanila Faamausili

"Volunteer"

When Mrs Grindstone looked at me and asked for a volunteer, i knew it was something that i could not get out of easily. I looked at her and knew i had to do it.

So i tried to act shy but Mrs Grindstone didn’t fall for it, so i had to do it. As i was going up as the volunteer i was nervous because i didn’t know what i was volunteered to do.

She told me to act out a story that she was reading and that was called “the night of the ball”. the story was going on and on until it  got interesting as she was reading i was picturing  about what she was saying.

i was listening very close to her story, and felt the meaning of the story it wasn’t the perfect story but it was a very nice and touching story. when the story was coming to an end i didn’t want it to end but it was a book it always ends in a way.

then after class i asked mrs grindstone for the book she was reading. i really wanted to read it again so took the book from her and went home and read it from the beginning to the end.

Games People Play...

I play sports every year because it keep’s me entertained for an example netball and rugby. Softball I play at the beginning of the year, League an Union is sports I play with friends and family. Basketball is game that I like but i don’t play often.

Netball is a game I play throughout the whole year from February to December it is one of my favorite sports to play. As I play I get better at it. I play with friends at school and at some tournaments we love to play netball every year.

Rugby is one of my favorites sports I like to play it all the time. I play it during the year for a club and for school. As I play it I get better and better. When I first played rugby i did not like the feeling but I got better and started to like it.

Softball is a game i play at the beginning of the year, in the first term. This year i didn’t go because of my broken leg but it was alright. I like to play it because me and my friends enjoy playing it. Sometimes we just play with the softball ball.

Basketball is a sport I don’t play often because i’m not really that into basketball. It’s a cool sport to play if you know how to play but I don’t. I see people enjoying playing it, and I see famous teams play it like the L.A Lakes.

The sports I play is sports I like, sports is my talent. Thank you Athena

So I did, while me and a my friends were under water swimming, we were called to go and play a game of football with some other friends. Netball

On Thursday the 9Th of February we had netball in the morning, I was tried and it was very hot. When we got there we got straight into some skills, the first skill Liz(coach) taught us was how to chis pass.

While we were running through some drills I felt exhausted because the sun was so hot that it felt like it was about to burst in to lava. After all our skills we played a game, bibs vs none bibs.

I was the only girl in my team, all the other was boys the were rushing, bumping people. It felt like i was playing rugby, while we were playing it felt like i was out of breath and I was really exhausted.

At the end of our session i felt like I was fit but really I wasn’t.

Treaty of Waitangi..

For the next ten days we are learning about the Treaty of Waitangi. But so far I've learnt that the reason why they sign the treaty is to make peace between Maori and Pakeha. But way before the treaty was signed Pakeha and Maori did some trading, Pakeha people traded Muskets for food but the one of the people that I know who signed the treaty was William Hobson was representing the Lieutenant-Governor. Hone Heke was a Maori person that I know who signed the treaty.
